Trust The Process
Created on 08 November 2024:
This week the results of the US election have caused shock waves, with many hanging their heads in dismay and others celebrating their success. Our global splits are compounded by the collapse of the government in Germany and the fissures showing up in those promoting the war in the Middle East. We need to understand at we have beliefs about people and situations that are mistaken. One of the concepts being played out by Israel now is the belief that a war can be won. This comes from beliefs of winning and losing based on thoughts of separation. In a war everybody loses at some point, and the grievances that wars are built on are carried forward, becoming the foundation for the next conflict.
However, much of this is overshadowed by the climate emergency for as I sit here in Zambia it appears the rain is failing for the second year and the mighty Zambezi river is not even a trickle. Victoria Falls, considered one of the wonders of the world, is now a non event.
I was asked before the election who would win. I would say Harris for her humanity but the process certainly pointed to a win for Trump. Many people look to Trump and his supporters thinking that they really don’t get it, but we need to realise that it us who really don’t get it. It was summed up by one question to Harris and her answer: a few days after her nomination as Democratic candidate she was asked what she would change regarding Biden’s policies and she replied that she would change nothing.
That is such an alarming answer in a world in which a number of emergencies or crises surround us. A crisis is an event that is a siren call for change. We start with a problem which is a nudge for change; then it becomes an issue. If we continue to refuse to change, it becomes a threat and if we don’t take a different path then it becomes a crisis. If we still refuse then we face an emergency and eventually a catastrophe. After that it becomes a goodbye.
It is not only Harris who wants business as usual; we all have the same approach to what is so obviously happening in our world. We need people like Trump to show us what we are refusing to face and change.
What stops us from changing is our fear, and all fear comes from our fear of losing something. It was Trump’s trump card to play on peoples’ fears, but now he is President it is us that continue the process of getting caught in our fear of what it is that we might lose. However, what we are all being called for is to face our fears and change.
Another reminder from the result of this election is a family dynamic emerging from our psychology. One of the stats that came out of the exit polls was that more women voted for Biden last time than for Harris this time. This speaks of how many of us would follow or trust an abusive, manipulative father figure without integrity than trust a sister. This is a deep driver for many of us. In our arrogance we believe we are beyond such influences, but can we truly say our subconscious dynamics don’t rule us, and play out in a small scale in our own lives or beliefs?
The time has come for us to embrace our change, starting with a change in our consciousness so we can learn to act from a higher level, inspiring those around us and acting daily in the best way possible to aid humanity and the world we all share. Trusting the process is the understanding that there is greater intelligence at play and we are evolving as we can, or have the courage to do.
And we need to learn to do whatever we do with grace which is the channel of partnership between that intelligence and ourselves. We get into trouble when we stop listening and appreciating the grace that is being offered at all times.
With love,
Jeff
