Our Repeating Patterns
We all have patterns in our lives, patterns of success or failure. On a global scale, we live in a world of repeating patterns or cycles. And those patterns are based on and driven by old wounds, old unresolved conflicts and old grievances that we are doomed to repeat until at some point we win back the courage to heal.
Healing and transformation require our intention and our desire; it takes courage and a deep willingness to give up our belief in separation, which in essence is our belief that we are right. What are our beliefs about our own healing? It is so easy to see the necessity for it in other people but for the most part we are blind to our own issues. That is why partners, friends and elders are so important because if we are willing to listen, willing to give up our belief that we are right about almost anything, we will be told what we need to change or examine. So how do we react when we get told?
Our Salisbury 10-day seminar has come and gone. For me personally it was a sweet, sweet time getting to know friends again at a deeper level. Being in the Cathedral Close was an honour and a privilege and the grace of the location certainly spread into the seminar. The group process was about redeeming and honouring the Feminine and many other things along the way including a deep process on nurturing. It was great to play in the unconscious for the 10 days and who knows what the future will bring regarding another visit to Salisbury.
If I look out onto my world today and see it as a reflection of myself then what seems obvious to me is that I would rather fight, rather polarize into good and bad, right and wrong, nice guys or terrorists. The teaching tells us that the inner and the outer are the same, mirrors in fact, so if I accept that then I would rather fight than heal. I would rather take a position and defend it at all costs. And I would rather continue with the rape of the environment than learn to live in harmony with nature.
This seems a big workload calling for forgiveness, letting go, trust, and union. But let’s start with my attitude to change, to healing, to seeing the power I do have and can use to make a difference, starting with my own mind and working outwards.
Current forces seem to be driving most people apart, so the time is now to have the courage to go the other way for no matter how we feel or think it is mostly only building our separation. It is time to get back into meaningful relationship with all that is around us for in doing so we will win back the wonder, even the rapture, of the world we have inherited. Only when we have done that will we have the consciousness and the will to take care of the world and all that is within it.
With love,
Jeff
