Kindness- a building block for a happy and joyful life

Kindness is a way of being that comes from a way of thinking, and that creates a reality which becomes the source of a happy and meaningful life.
Recently in Spain at the 5 day Vital Health Retreat we shared how we can use the power of our minds to project on the world around us, or to extend ourselves to it. When we project we are coming from our guilt and judgements; this is a form of attack and reinforces our separation from others, from which many of our problems arise. When we extend ourselves we are using the power of our minds as our creator intended.
It is important to be vigilant about what we are doing with our mind. We often believe our thoughts are of little consequence, our minds indulge in idle and wishful thoughts and get lost in fantasy. We have lost the understanding that every thought has power and direction and every thought is either building our life or tearing it down. People who have reached high levels of awareness are conscious of their thoughts. They think very carefully as they understand how the power of each thought creates our reality. We see what we believe.
It is not possible for our minds to do nothing or chug along in neutral. So it follows that we can use our thoughts to create the world that we want and one of the simplest forms of thought is kindness. Kindness is an ingredient of love. Love has many forms and energies and kindness is one of the most natural and easily manifested. Kindness in thought and deed is extending ourselves to others, making contact with loving thoughts and acts towards others. Our connection with others becomes a source of excitement and reinforces our sense of belonging which ends the separation.
Kindness is an easy first step as it is natural and part of our true nature. It can be in the simplest of forms, a smile, a word, all coming from genuine thoughts without any expectations. As a shining example, Nature is and continues to be kind to us, providing us with a home and everything we need to prosper and we are called to honour that kindness and return it whenever possible.
As we become kind to others then we also learn to become kind to ourselves, which can be an even more difficult aim given how much we secretly or not-so-secretly attack ourselves.
So today, pay attention to any grievances or judgements that block you from acts of kindness towards family, friends or strangers. Itβs also a great practice β especially with children – to look back at the end of the day and notice acts of kindness from others. Is that a mega task?
We believe that to focus on kindness leads us to learn of gratitude, for the two go together and are fundamental building blocks to a happy and prosperous life.
