How many of us wrestle with this question in every area of our lives, in relationships, in our careers and even in the European Union as we in the UK stand on the brink. As with all these situations we can argue back and forth about the pros and cons of the choice but mostly our choices are divisive. There is this old school of logical thinking that says the solution is simple, you get out a piece of paper and write down the pros on one side and the cons on the other side then you reach a logical solution.
Actually research shows when push comes to shove this is the least effective way of reaching a decision. Great plans of how you will conduct a war or rescue someone from a burning building are usually the first casualty and people resort to instinct and experience in high pressure situations. So lets leave that strategy out and look to our instinct. Natural instinct would be to stay as we are basically herding creatures and we like company, nothing worse than being alone in a bar. However many of us have trained our instinct to be more about “me” and therefore leaving is the best option. So the flaw in this is that we have all these filters and conditioning that get in the way.
So that leaves the last strategy. What is the truth in this situation? For me, I try not to run away from anything or run towards anything, but learn to deal with what is placed before me and ask only for the truth. The truth has energy, knowing and wisdom, when it fills your mind you are no longer split. Once you know the truth then all the different pathways disappear. The questions we wrestle with come from our split minds and what changes that is the truth. What is the truth that works for everyone – it has power and ends power struggles. It does not need fighting for as the truth just “is” and when we follow it everything works out.
Speaking of leaving, I have just retired as a Psychology of Vision Trainer. It took me sometime to reach this place but now I know my decision to be true. I will still contribute, still teach but not at the levels of before. I will spend more time at home and write more. I am still a great advocate of this visionary and transformation model and encourage all, who feel it is true, to embrace it.
So for all those that have shared this path of POV with me, thank you and if anyone wants some time then please just ask.
With love and gratitude
