We spent last weekend in London with Chuck doing a 3-day workshop. It was a great workshop with Chuck starting quickly and soon we were into exercises and visualizations.
Visualizations are a significant part of our work and the further we dive into our minds the more used and useful they become, playing a really significant part in our healing journey. Basically during visualizations we are creating a world of healing, bringing symbols and metaphors into a world we create in our minds; naturally everyone creates their own world during visualizations and typically a better world than the one they feel they inhabit now.
People’s reactions to the use of visualizations are also interesting. There is a mountain of research that demonstrates the power of visualization; for instance similar muscle tone can be developed by visualizing physical exercises as actually doing them, and certainly sports men and woman increasingly understand the benefits of visualizations.
Often people approach me during workshops saying they are unable to visualize, unable to bring images to mind or experience sensations or feelings or believe that technique has any significance. They struggle to see the importance or the power of visualizations. I used to belong to this school of thought until one day I had an insight while tripping over a door frame and the insight was simple. In a flash I realized that the world we have made is one created from our thoughts, only some thoughts we have invested in far more than others. If we want to change our world we need not only to learn to visualize what we really want but also to withdraw our investment in what we have already created.
It is all visualization!
