Big steps for VisionAfrica
Yes! We are now a registered charity in the UK and that is only one of two massive steps that have come to fruition during the last week.
VisionZambia is the new name for what many of you knew as VisionAfrica. We were asked to change our name because there is a charity in the UK that already uses the name VisionAfrica and so for us to gain charitable status we needed to make the change. We’re still getting used to it and hope you can too.
The other great step is the completion of the Community Center building on the grounds of Linda Community School. While this has been a difficult and often frustrating venture we now feel it is a great accomplishment. The new hall, the first of its kind in Linda Compound, will be shared between the Community School and Women’s Groups of Linda and it will be a centre for sharing skills, implementing income generating projects, as well as feeding the schoolchildren in the rainy season and holding meetings.
All this has been accomplished in line with the principles of VisionZambia, which are Friends Helping Friends, partnership and community. Also special thanks to Katie Allen for being our director and having so much patience with us and teaching us to change our ways into thinking much more sustainably.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, especially the Psychology of Vision family from around the world, who have donated to us and we hope you can continue your generosity. If you want any other information about what we do please visit our website at www.visionzambia.co.uk
With our love and gratitude,
Jeff and Sue
